Challenge
The Greater Roanne Municipality set ambitious goals for itself in the development of its Star* network. On the one hand, it wished to incite residents to use public transportation and on the other hand, it encouraged the use of transport modes other than the automobile.
The aim was to redesign the network by adapting it to the new human and economic context, without any additional cost for the municipality.
Objectives
- Make the network more attractive and increase the use of public transportation.
- Enable passengers to manage and integrate their daily activities into their transport time.
- Make the network simpler to understand so that residents are able to use it intuitively.
Veolia Transport's solution
An operational strategy aimed at an intuitive understanding of the network
Veolia Transport has implemented a comprehensive timing system for the network.
- A survey of the expectations of the residents on the operating rhythm.
- Schedules with consistent stops and that are easier to remember.
- An interchange system for all lines, integrating environmentally friendly measures such as fewer kilometers traveled and reduced C02 emissions.
After 18 years of continuous slowdown, Star* experienced an increase in ridership of 4% without increasing its service.
Simplified information
- Fewer schedule changes, a more coherent pricing policy.
- Summary information based on visual understanding of schedules.
- A new visual identity to communicate this new strategy.
