The Independent Sustainable Development Visiting Committee.
On January 16th 2008, Veolia Environnement welcomed the eight members of its Sustainable Development Visiting Committee for their first plenary meeting.
This Committee, created in 2007, aims at enlarging Veolia Environnement's strategic vision and improving the quality of its sustainable development reporting.
This first full day meeting was held to exchange views, with the Committee members, on Veolia Environnement's commitments and objectives relating to sustainable development.
The Committee members have already individually contributed in the 2006 sustainable development report by expressing their opinions on the major challenges Veolia Environnement has to face and their key expectations regarding the company's sustainable development policy.
The Committee members:
- Mr. John GUMMER, Former Minister, Chairman of SANCROFT Group, Chairman of Veolia Water UK Ltd ;
- Mr. Philippe LEVEQUE, Director-General of CARE FRANCE ;
- Mrs Karina LITVACK, Director of the governance and socially responsible investment department of F&C Investment ;
- Mr. Rajendra PACHAURI, Director-General of TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute) and Chairman of the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) ;
- Mrs. Usha RAO-MONARI, Manager for the utilities, International Finance Corporation (IFC) ;
- Mr. Ignacy SACHS, Professor at EHESS (Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales) ;
- Mr. Jean-Michel SEVERINO, Executive Director of the Agence Française de Développement
- Mr. Björn STIGSON, Chairman of WBCSD (World Business Council for Sustainable Development).
