In December 2007, a disability awareness-raising day was organized in partnership with the Ile de France centre region, the national disability agency and work centers adapted to disability, ESAT (Etablissements et Services d'Aide par le Travail) and EA (Entreprise adaptée), as part of the "Disabilities and Careers" initiative.

This event made Veolia Water staff more aware of the issues surrounding disabilities through the use of short films and documentation. The day was also an occasion to discover the jobs, the skills and the products manufactured by disabled workers in the ESAT and the EA. The Veolia Water staff member in charge of disabilities was available to discuss the problem of recruiting and retaining disabled staff as well as ESAT subcontracting and manufacturing.

This awareness day is a part of a company-wide labor-management agreement which was signed for the 2006-2008 period. Its goal is to preserve and expand the initial activities, with the primary goal to recruit at least 120 disabled persons over the term of the agreement.

This company-wide labor-management agreement, underlined by the press (download some articles published in Le Figaro and Entreprises & Carrières), has given the opportunity to implement awareness campaign (download the leaflet "Insertion professionnelle & handicap").

Previously to this company-wide labor-management agreement, Veolia Water signed two agreements with Agefiph (an association that promotes professional integration for disabled persons) for the period 2002-2005.
